In building a wooden skid foundation, you first need to select a spot then prepare a bed of gravel which will be able to provide a flat level and stable surface to allow water to drain beneath it and keep your lumber dry. Atop this gravel you will set wood beams or timber. These beams and timber will act as the skids.
